God of the Air (see Egyptian Mythology). He was the son of Atum, husband and brother of Tephnut (the moisture), and father of Geb and Nut. One myth has it that Shu and Tephnut once argued and Tephnut left Egypt for Nubia (which is always more temperate). Shu quickly decided he missed her, but she changed into a cat that killed anyone, man or God, who approached her. Shu asked Thoth for help, and Thoth, in disguise, eventually convinced her to return to Egypt. Shu is shown as a man with a single feather standing on his head.
